2018 is turning out to be an incredible year for South African Sludge n Rollers Ruff Majik.
They also released their debut full-length album Seasons on the 20th April to widespread critical acclaim.
The guys are happy to announce that they have signed deals with US label Forbidden Place Records to release and distribute Seasons on CD and cassette,
while German label Rock Freaks Records will be releasing three versions of the double LP: classic black, coloured (still a secret) and die-hard (very limited).
Vocalist and guitarist Johni Holiday commented on the news “Ruff Majik is immensely excited to take the next step in furthering our career by bringing out physical copies. With the backing of Rock Freaks and Forbidden Place, we’re making a lifelong dream come true!”
The smart mix between heavy grooves and energetic hooks get you to reach for repeat more than once.” – Angry Metal Guy
“The more metallic moments stand out. “Last of the Witches” is fuzzy funk led by Ben Manchino’s busy drums and Johni Holiday’s guitar which goes from Eddie Hazel to Tony Iommi in the blink of an eye. “Gone Down in the Woods Today” and “Hanami Sakura (and the ritual suicide)” are better than most of the Zeppelin-come-lately clones that littered the landscape not too long ago.” – Invisible Oranges
“ There is a great energy to the riffs. At times they can be erring on the side of bluesy sleepiness, yet always alert enough to quickly snap up on shifts in the grooves laid down by a power rhythm section.” – Metal4Africa
“The album is a grinding, blistering metal-edged offering coming just weeks before they embark on their inaugural European tour which will see them supporting the likes of The Devil and the Almighty Blues, Colour Haze and My Sleeping Karma across Germany, Austria and Switzerland.” – Texx and The City
Ruff Majik is a power trio, a stoner juggernaut, and they bring good times with them wherever they go
